How consignment actually works.
No mystery, no small print you find out about later. This is the whole sequence, including the parts most companies do not put on a website.
-
1. You submit the item
Photos and details through our online form. This is free and it commits you to nothing. It takes about five minutes for one item; for a closet or an estate, tell us roughly what is there and we will come and look rather than making you photograph a hundred pieces.
-
2. We review it
We look at brand, model, condition, completeness, and what comparable pieces have actually sold for recently — not what people are asking. We also work out whether the piece will need third-party authentication before it can be listed.
Then we come back to you with a realistic range and an honest recommendation. Sometimes that recommendation is that it is not worth consigning. We would rather tell you that than take an item we cannot move.
-
3. We agree terms — before anything happens
Listing price. Commission rate. Who pays for authentication. What happens if it does not sell. What happens if a buyer returns it. All of it in writing, all of it before your item is listed. You own the piece throughout.
-
4. The item comes to us
Locally, that is an appointment, a drop-off or a pickup. Nationwide, we send you instructions for packing and shipping it safely. Either way it is logged, photographed on arrival, and its condition is documented so there is a record of exactly what we received.
Custody, storage, shipping and any applicable insurance responsibilities are stated in the written terms for the item before handover. Do not bring or ship an item until we confirm the process in writing.
-
5. Authentication, where it applies
Some categories and price points require formal authentication before a reputable channel will accept them. Where that applies, we tell you before listing — who does it, what it costs, and how that cost is handled.
If an item turns out to be counterfeit, it will not be listed and it will not be sold. We will contact you directly.
-
6. Photography and listing
Consistent, honest photography — including the wear. Buyers who see the flaws up front do not return items. A listing that hides them gets a chargeback.
-
7. We sell it
We choose channels based on the piece: resale marketplaces, live shopping events, social drops, or a direct approach to a buyer who has told us what they want. We answer the questions, handle the offers, and manage the shipping.
-
8. If it does not sell
We come back to you. A price reduction, a different channel, or return it to you — your call. We do not mark items down without your agreement.
-
9. You get paid
Once the sale clears and the buyer's return window has passed, you receive your share under the agreed terms.
The written consignment terms identify the payout method, timing and any applicable reserve for returns or disputes before the item is listed.
